The meeting is expected to bring together senior representatives from ADB member countries, international organisations, the private sector, civil society and the media, with a focus on strengthening economic and development cooperation between Italy and Europe and Asia-Pacific economies. The notice also highlights Italy’s role as an ADB founding member and notes that Bank of Italy Governor Fabio Panetta, who currently chairs the ADB Board of Governors, will participate in the opening session and the governors’ business session on 5 May; Deputy Director General Paolo Angelini is scheduled to speak at a host-country seminar on next-generation skills. On 6 May, Panetta is due to join ADB President Masato Kanda at a Bank of Italy-hosted event on cross-border payment rails, alongside planned publication of Panetta’s opening remarks, Italy’s governor’s statement and a speech on the role of cross-border payments.
