The Hong Kong Monetary Authority released Hong Kong’s latest official foreign currency reserve assets figures, reporting USD 408.7 billion as at the end of April 2025, down from USD 412.5 billion at end-March 2025. Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, foreign currency reserve assets stood at USD 407.9 billion at end-April (end-March: USD 411.9 billion). The official total was equivalent to over five times the currency in circulation, or about 36% of Hong Kong dollar M3. The HKMA also set out its Exchange Fund data release schedule for May 2025, with further publications due on 14 May (SDDS Analytical Accounts of the Exchange Fund) and 30 May (SDDS Template on International Reserves and Foreign Currency Liquidity, and the Exchange Fund Abridged Balance Sheet and Currency Board Account).
