The National Bank of Moldova reported that Governor Anca Dragu spoke at the opening of the Bucharest Leaders’ Summit: The Path to 5.0. From Vision To Reality, where she reiterated Moldova’s European integration course and pointed to the country’s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) as a milestone in its financial modernisation. In her remarks, Dragu said most Moldovan banks have already been accepted for technical interconnection to SEPA, intended to facilitate faster, safer and more accessible euro payments for citizens and entrepreneurs. She also set out the central bank’s focus on developing a modern financial ecosystem based on innovation, security and inclusion, alongside efforts on financial education and banking-system resilience, and presented FinanciarELE, a National Bank of Moldova programme supporting women pursuing careers in finance. The summit runs from 21 May to 16 June and brings together more than 400 leaders and experts from international institutions, Romanian and EU public bodies, academia and business.
