The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs approved subcommittee assignments for the 119th Congress, setting leadership and membership for the panel’s workstreams. The release also announced a new Subcommittee on Digital Assets, intended to develop legislation aimed at providing regulatory clarity for the digital assets industry. Chairs and ranking members were set as follows: Economic Policy (Senator John Kennedy and Senator Raphael Warnock), Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection (Senator Thom Tillis and Senator Catherine Cortez Masto), Housing, Transportation, and Community Development (Senator Katie Britt and Senator Tina Smith), National Security and International Trade and Finance (Senator Bill Hagerty and Senator Andy Kim), Securities, Insurance, and Investment (Senator Mike Rounds and Senator Mark Warner), and Digital Assets (Senator Cynthia Lummis and Senator Ruben Gallego). Chairman Tim Scott and Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren will serve on all subcommittees as ex-officio, non-voting members unless otherwise noted.
