The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) has intensified its insurance and pension education agenda, expanding initiatives intended to increase public understanding of insurance, open complementary pension, capitalization products and asset protection. The programme is framed as supporting financial citizenship and consumer protection while contributing to the development of SUSEP-supervised markets. Recent actions include the sector dialogue “Challenges and Innovation in Insurance and Pension Education”, held on 05 August at SUSEP’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro and structured around three panels covering insurance awareness, pension education and financial education as a consumer-protection tool, with a full recording made available on SUSEP’s YouTube channel. SUSEP also highlighted its 2024 technical cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission, the Ministry of Social Security, the National Social Security Institute and the National Superintendence of Complementary Pension to deliver “Financial Education at School” courses for primary school teachers via the Sebrae Nacional platform, and its participation in the Ministry of Education’s “Na Ponta do Lápis” programme under the Brazilian Financial Education Forum, currently chaired by SUSEP, which targets a financial literacy matrix for primary and secondary students. Public-facing outreach is complemented by the “Meu Futuro Seguro” programme, which publishes plain-language explanations of supervised products on SUSEP’s Instagram, LinkedIn and website.
