The Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency of Türkiye published a public clarification on motor third-party liability (traffic) insurance premiums, countering media reports of high premium increases and confirming that the monthly maximum premium increase for January 2026 has been set at 0.66%. Monthly maximum traffic insurance premiums are set by the Agency using variables including vehicle type, the insured’s risk level, the province of residence, the vehicle’s usage purpose, and fuel type. Since May 2024, premium setting has incorporated a claims-cost index designed to reflect current economic conditions, based on weighted components including vehicle prices, spare-part prices, maintenance and repair costs, and changes in the minimum wage.
