The Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC Philippines) announced it will host and chair the 44th ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) Chairs’ Meeting on March 26 in Boracay, bringing together chief securities regulators from across ASEAN to set strategic direction on priority regional capital markets initiatives. The meeting is positioned to drive work on market connectivity, sustainable finance, corporate governance and digital assets, with emphasis on integration, inclusivity and stronger enforcement, including cross-border investor protection. The SEC Philippines chairship is anchored on the “RISE” agenda (Regional integration, Inclusivity, Sustainable finance and collaborative Enforcement) and aligned with the ACMF Action Plan 2026 to 2030. It identified initiatives including establishing an ASEAN Knowledge Network of Supervisory and Enforcement Directors, publishing an ASEAN Code of Conduct for External Verifiers in Sustainable Finance, expanding the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard Regional Assessment, completing the next phase of the Mitigation co-benefit and Adaptation for Resilience (mARs) Guide, and promoting ASEAN as an asset class. The Chairs’ Meeting follows discussions from the ACMF Deputies’ Meeting held in Coron in January and is intended to provide guidance on issues raised by ACMF working groups.
