The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs published a majority press release noting that the Senate confirmed an en bloc package of eight Trump administration nominees for senior roles across the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The confirmed slate included Joseph Gormley as President of the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae), Frank Cassidy, Ben Hobbs and Ronnie Kurtz as Assistant Secretaries at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Paul Hollis as Director of the Mint, Christopher Pilkerton and Jonathan Burke as Assistant Secretaries at the Department of the Treasury, and Travis Hill as Chairperson of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Board of Directors. The release also pointed to changes in the Senate’s confirmation process in 2025, stating that Senate Republicans reformed Senate rules in September to streamline civilian nominee confirmations after Senate Democrats stopped the prior practice of confirming such nominations in batches via voice vote or unanimous consent.
