The Superintendency of Banks of Panama has announced a cooperation agreement with the Superintendency of Non-Financial Subjects that establishes reciprocal technical cooperation and the exchange of statistical and strategic information. The framework is intended to strengthen supervisory capacity for the prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The arrangement provides for joint initiatives including the exchange of relevant information, working groups, and participation in sessions, secondments, training and specialized events. These measures are aimed at improving risk management linked to financial crimes and supporting more effective supervision. The agreement is the first cooperation arrangement between the two bodies since the former Intendency of Non-Financial Subjects was elevated to superintendency status.
