The World Bank has appointed Stephen N. Ndegwa as division director for Thailand and Myanmar, effective Sept. 1, 2026. Based in Bangkok, he will lead the institution’s programs in both countries, including its work on Thailand’s development priorities and support for vulnerable communities in Myanmar. In Thailand, Ndegwa will oversee preparation of a new Country Partnership Framework focused on private sector competitiveness, economic resilience, job creation and private capital mobilization. In Myanmar, he will lead the World Bank’s monitor, assess and assist approach, including analysis of economic and social conditions and programs delivered through third-party partners to protect human capital, livelihoods and food security.
