Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF) published 2025 complaint statistics for the State of Guanajuato, reporting 8,921 complaints handled and MXN 31.2 million recovered for users in concluded cases. Guanajuato accounted for 3.6% of complaints nationwide, with the total down 3.1% versus the previous year, and an overall user-favourable outcome rate of 41.2%. Of the complaints filed in Guanajuato, 68.2% were handled through the Electronic Management process and 19.6% related to improper debt collection practices. By sector, multiple banking represented 59.2% of complaints, followed by credit information societies at 11.3% and insurers at 11.1%. Within multiple banking, the leading drivers were unrecognised purchases, unrecognised online purchases and unrecognised electronic transfers, together representing 33.6% of the state’s complaints, with credit cards, debit cards and personal loans accounting for 75.0% of multiple-banking product-related complaints; 26.4% of all complaints were linked to possible fraud. Complaints were concentrated in León (60.1%), followed by Irapuato (7.4%) and Celaya (7.1%), and CONDUSEF reiterated that its procedures are free and do not require intermediaries.
