The Financial Conduct Authority, with Treasury approval, has appointed Liam Coleman as permanent chair of the Financial Ombudsman Service. Coleman will begin a three year term on Oct. 10, 2026, after serving as interim chair for the past year. Coleman has held roles across financial services, regulation and public service, including at the FCA, Nationwide Building Society, Royal Bank of Scotland and Co-operative Bank. His appointment comes as the FCA and the Financial Ombudsman Service work with the government to reshape the UK redress system and make ombudsman decisions more consistent, predictable and fair for firms and consumers.
