Nigeria's Ministry of Finance, through Minister of State for Finance Doris Uzoka-Anite, used the official launch of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Podcast in Abuja to encourage Nigerian women to explore investment opportunities in the capital market, presenting it as a route to wealth creation. Uzoka-Anite called for more policies, reforms or frameworks to increase women’s participation in the capital market and the wider financial sector, and set out a multi-pronged approach combining individual empowerment with institutional support, including expectations that institutions offer women opportunities and assess them based on competence and capacity. She also highlighted the constraints many women face in balancing professional and family responsibilities and commended the SEC for launching the podcast. SEC Director General Emomotimi Agama said the podcast is intended to disseminate capital market information across Nigeria, including remote areas, to build understanding of participation options.
