The Bank of Namibia announced that it hosted an Internal Audit Awareness Day engagement bringing together policymakers, governance practitioners, auditors and public sector leaders. The event focused on the evolving role of internal audit in strengthening governance, accountability and institutional resilience. In opening remarks, Deputy Governor Nicholas Mukasa described internal audit as an independent assurance function that supports governance, effective risk management and accountability across institutions. Held under the theme of redefining internal audit’s strategic value, the engagement examined how the profession is moving beyond a traditional compliance-focused role toward a broader contribution to organizational performance, sustainability and long-term value creation.
