The Argentina Securities Commission (CNV) hosted a session at its headquarters with World Bank representatives focused on financing through capital markets in emerging economies and on supporting companies entering this type of funding. World Bank Macroeconomics and Growth Research Manager Sergio Schmukler presented the report “Financing Firm Growth: What Role Do Capital Markets Play in Low- and Middle-Income Countries?”, which draws on new bond and equity issuance data covering nearly 80,000 firms globally, with a focus on 20,000 firms across 106 emerging countries. The research also examines the drivers of capital market development and the benefits for economies and firms at different stages of development, while CNV Vice President Patricia Boedo highlighted that regulation is one element contributing to the expansion of market-based financing and referred to the CNV’s work on innovative rules to support capital market development.
