The Central Bank of the Philippines announced that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has reappointed Walter C. Wassmer and Jose L. Querubin as members of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Monetary Board. Their new terms run until July 2032, extending the tenure of two external members of the central bank’s highest policy-making body. Wassmer and Querubin were first appointed to the Monetary Board in July 2024 and September 2024, respectively. The central bank highlighted their backgrounds in financial markets, commercial banking and risk management. Before joining the board, Wassmer had served as a senior executive at BDO and previously held roles at Far East Bank & Trust Co., UnionBank of the Philippines, Bancom Finance Corp. and IFC Leasing and Acceptance Corp. Querubin previously served as president and chief executive of United Coconut Planters Bank and also held positions at ASEAN Finance Corporation, Bank of America, Solid Bank Corp., Citibank, Megalink and the Bankers Association of the Philippines.

The Central Bank of the Philippines said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has reappointed Walter C. Wassmer and Jose L. Querubin to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Monetary Board. Their terms now run until July 2032. Both were first appointed in 2024 and bring senior banking and risk management experience to the board.
