The Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa has issued a request for expressions of interest to recruit one international consultant and three regional consultants to design and deliver the West Africa Compliance Summit 2025, a regional meeting of chief compliance officers from financial and non-financial institutions scheduled for July 21-24 in Praia, Cabo Verde. The summit forms part of GIABA’s African Development Bank-financed capacity development project for West Africa transition states and is aimed at strengthening private sector capacity to respond to emerging money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing risks, recent changes to Financial Action Task Force standards, and GIABA’s preparation for its third round of mutual evaluations. The consultants will prepare training materials and case studies, facilitate and moderate technical sessions, support workshop discussions and produce a summary of key issues and recommendations. GIABA links the programme to a more complex AML/CFT/CPF environment shaped by evolving FATF standards, new technologies and virtual assets, and says the summit is intended to help reporting entities adapt their compliance frameworks while improving coordination with national authorities. Qualification requirements are pitched at senior compliance practitioners, with the international role requiring extensive cross-border AML/CFT/CPF experience and the regional roles focused on West Africa-based chief compliance officer or equivalent consulting experience. Expressions of interest are due by May 19, 2025. Selection will be made under the African Development Bank’s individual consultant method.
