The Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission has issued Travel Rule regulations requiring digital asset business operators to collect, verify and transmit information for digital asset transfers. The rules formalize the implementation previously scheduled for February 2027 and align transaction monitoring with Financial Action Task Force standards to address money laundering, terrorist financing and technology-related crime risks. Operators must establish transfer risk management policies, collect customer and counterparty information, conduct counterparty due diligence and verify relevant service providers and intermediaries. They must also verify ownership or control of self-hosted wallets, transmit originator and beneficiary information with transfer orders, and retain accompanying transaction information in a retrievable form for at least five years. The requirements take effect on Feb. 27, 2027, allowing operators time to develop information transmission, receipt and monitoring systems. They serve as interim regulations coordinated with the Anti-Money Laundering Office while it prepares rules under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
