The European Commission has launched the EU Water Resilience Investment Accelerator, an advisory initiative that will support 20 innovative pilot projects focused on water efficiency, natural water retention and clean water. The initiative seeks to attract more private capital and help address the estimated EUR 23 billion annual investment gap for implementing existing EU water legislation. The accelerator will promote scalable business and financing models, improve projects’ bankability through existing EU advisory instruments, and connect solution providers and potential beneficiaries with investors. It will prioritize projects led by EU-based startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, farmers and local authorities. Relevant projects may apply by the end of October for tailored, cost-free support through Green Assist, an InvestEU advisory initiative funded by the LIFE programme.
