The Bank of Japan published its Basic Figures on Fails for April 2026, a monthly statistical release on Japanese government bond settlement fails and related delivery-versus-payment activity. The tables set out the number of fails, total face value, average and maximum fail duration, and the number of buy-ins used to resolve failed transactions, based on the monthly Survey on Fails reported by recipients of JGBs in failed transactions. The survey covers 245 institutions as of the end of March 2026 that are direct participants in the JGB book-entry system and users of BOJ-NET JGB DVP services. A fail is defined as a case where the recipient does not receive the JGBs on the scheduled settlement date. The data include settlements through institutions' own accounts, customer accounts, and trust accounts, and the reference section also reports Government Bond DVP direct debit totals on a one-way basis.
