Japan's Ministry of Finance announced that Japan and Malaysia have signed their third bilateral swap arrangement, with a maximum value of USD 6 billion or its equivalent in Japanese yen. The arrangement takes effect on Sept. 18, 2026. The Bank of Japan, acting as agent for Japan's finance minister, signed the agreement with Bank Negara Malaysia. It allows both parties to exchange their local currencies for U.S. dollars and also permits Bank Negara Malaysia to exchange Malaysian ringgit for Japanese yen.

Japan and Malaysia have signed their third bilateral swap arrangement, worth up to USD 6 billion or its equivalent in Japanese yen. Effective Sept. 18, 2026, it provides for local currency exchanges into U.S. dollars and allows Bank Negara Malaysia to exchange Malaysian ringgit for Japanese yen.
