The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) published an update on a Karachi meeting chaired by Sindh’s Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control to discuss implementation of Motor Third-Party Liability (MTPL) insurance across Sindh and agree a way forward. SECP’s Commissioner Insurance, Mujtaba Ahmad Lodhi, emphasised that MTPL should be implemented comprehensively and transparently with the active involvement of all licensed insurance companies, positioning the reform as a means of providing financial protection to road users and promoting responsible driving. Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla reaffirmed the Sindh government’s support and indicated that the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department would take necessary steps to facilitate MTPL implementation, with SECP also committing support to the provincial government and the insurance industry.
