Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF) published complaint statistics for the state of Morelos covering January to July 2025, reporting 2,821 complaints, a 4.1% increase versus 2024 and 1.9% of complaints nationwide. Over the same period, the amount claimed totalled MXN 79.1 million, down 16.1% year on year. Of the complaints in Morelos, 71.7% were handled through CONDUSEF’s electronic case management process, 17.4% through the REDECO channel related to debt collection agencies, and 10.9% via other processes. The most complained-about products were credit cards, debit cards and the special credit report, which together represented 50.2% of complaints; the leading causes were unrecognised purchases, threats or intimidation of debtors or related persons, and unrecognised electronic transfers (29.1% combined). By sector, multiple banking accounted for 59.7% of complaints, followed by credit information companies (12.7%) and insurers (11.9%); within multiple banking, 30.5% of complaints related to older adults and 49.9% were linked to possible fraud, mainly unrecognised charges and unrecognised cash withdrawals at ATMs.
