The National Bank of Romania published details of the spring meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development International Network on Financial Education, which it hosted in Bucharest from 5 to 7 May 2026 with the Financial Supervisory Authority and the Romanian Banks Association. At the 6 May members' meeting, discussions focused on the network's priorities and main lines of action for the next two years and on strengthening global and regional cooperation in financial education. A 7 May conference titled "Financial literacy to support security, independence and inclusion" addressed financial education as a pillar of balanced economic and social development, financial security in periods of uncertainty, financial inclusion, and consumer protection against scams and financial fraud. More than 200 invitees from the economic, financial and academic sectors in 65 countries and Romania attended, alongside OECD officials and senior Romanian state representatives, and the central bank linked the event to Romania's OECD accession preparations and to broader cooperation within the organisation.
