The Canadian Bankers Association will present its Canadian Banks’ Law Enforcement Award to members of the Toronto Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police for investigations targeting financial crime and fraud in Canada. Detective Constable Sarath Thayalan of the Toronto Police Service’s Financial Crimes Unit will receive the individual award for work dismantling synthetic identity fraud schemes in Ontario. Officers from both police services will receive the group award for their coordinated work on Project Borsa and Project Final, which addressed distraction thefts targeting vulnerable Canadians.
