The Moroccan Insurance Authority (ACAPS) has signed a grant agreement with the African Development Bank’s African Digital Financial Inclusion Facility (ADFI) for USD 510,000 to support the use of innovative technologies and strengthen financial inclusion in Morocco’s insurance sector. ACAPS will supplement the grant with USD 170,000 of its own funding, with the programme aimed at increasing insurance access for vulnerable groups, particularly women and young people. Work will focus on developing solutions with market participants to make insurance products more accessible, transparent and better tailored to target populations, including by reducing barriers to accessing, understanding and using insurance. The initiative includes support for integrating and improving the effectiveness of InsurTech technologies, alongside methodological and technical assistance for traditional operators to support transformation and adaptation to market changes, and it is framed as contributing to Morocco’s National Financial Inclusion Strategy through measures such as awareness-raising, product diversification and regulatory framework adaptation to support innovation and new distribution channels.
