The Argentina Superintendency of Insurance participated in the semiannual meeting of the MERCOSUR Insurance Commission, held virtually on 28 and 29 April under Argentina’s pro tempore presidency, and presented initiatives aimed at strengthening supervision and modernising the insurance market. Delegations from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay reviewed advances in the new reporting regime and monitoring dashboard known as the Sistema Informativo de Emisión de Pólizas (SIEP), designed to improve data analysis and supervisory efficiency. The meeting also covered progress on agricultural insurance, including an exchange on coverage structures, incentives and national specificities, with Argentina outlining its domestic position and the role of the segment in addressing climatic and production risks. Other topics included implementation of the Carta Verde, regulatory updates, further digitalisation of policy issuance, progress under the 2025–2026 work programme, and a proposal for a virtual platform to facilitate cross-country sharing of regulations.
