Morocco's Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS) and Oman's Financial Services Authority (FSA) are co-organising a high-level regional seminar in Muscat on 29–30 April 2025 focused on expanding insurance coverage in the Middle East and North Africa, framing the agenda around key challenges and opportunities for market development. The meeting brings together representatives of insurance regulators from across the region and international bodies including the International Association of Insurance Supervisors, the International Association of Actuaries and the Financial Stability Institute. The programme covers regulators’ role in modernising insurance markets, supervisory approaches to fair consumer treatment and market integrity, financial education to strengthen consumer understanding of insurance products, sustainable insurance in response to environmental and social challenges, innovation and technology as drivers of change, and ways to strengthen local risk management capabilities. ACAPS positions the initiative as a continuation of its memorandum of understanding with the FSA on technical cooperation, exchange of expertise and harmonisation of regulatory frameworks.
