The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative has released the Climate Pathways Navigator, a tool designed to give financial institutions direct access to climate scenario data for setting science-based decarbonisation pathways, informing transition plans, and supporting client and investee engagement. Developed with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, the tool was refined through more than a year of testing with banks, investors, insurers and export credit agencies. It aims to simplify access to sectoral and regional data points by bringing together emissions scenarios assessed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change alongside industry-designed scenarios, and is available for free to UNEP FI members, the wider finance sector, and governments and policymakers.
