In a speech at the second Cambras Business Day, the Argentina Ministry of Finance said monthly economic activity had reached a record level, the economy had posted 24 months of positive cyclical growth, and inflation, wages and tax collection were improving. Economy Minister Luis Caputo also said the government had completed the regulations for the Labor Modernization Law, which he linked to greater formalization and employment. Caputo said the economic programme had defused inherited fiscal, monetary, financial and exchange-rate imbalances, and argued that greater competition was improving product availability and prices. He also said the government had inherited more than USD 40 billion in Central Bank debt to importers, but that foreign currency was now available for imports and household savings, with the Central Bank buying about USD 100 million per day since the start of the year.
