The Bangladesh Securities & Exchange Commission (BSEC) has published a draft amendment to the Depository (User) Regulations, 2003 for public consultation, proposing changes to the schedule of depository service fees. The draft would replace the existing Schedule 4 entry for the annual account maintenance fee, setting it at BDT 150 per Beneficiary Owner (BO) account per year, payable annually in advance by participant account holders and by each investor in an omnibus account. Of the BDT 150, BDT 100 would be retained by the depository and the remaining BDT 50 would be remitted to the Commission. Where the annual fee is not paid, the depository participant or the depository would close BO accounts with no securities, and would suspend BO accounts that hold securities until the fee (and any applicable additional fees) is paid. BSEC has invited opinions, advice or objections within two weeks from the publication of the notice.
