Finland's Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment published an update on a roundtable hosted by Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto on increasing international investors’ participation in Finnish private equity funds as a route to strengthen growth financing. Discussions covered Finland’s strengths and challenges from international investors’ perspective and potential concrete measures to attract capital more effectively into Finnish funds, including issues related to fund legislation and taxation as part of the government’s growth measures. The ministries noted that international investors already invest directly in Finnish growth companies but account for a markedly smaller share of investors in Finnish funds than in other Nordic countries, and the session aimed to identify barriers, unused opportunities and public-sector levers, while recognising private actors’ role in fund strategy and fundraising. The event formed part of an ongoing series intended to build authorities’ situational awareness of financial-market developments, following earlier sessions on crypto-assets and fintech.
