The Central Bank of Bahrain chaired the 87th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council Committee of Central Bank Governors, continuing regional discussions on payment systems, banking supervision, financial technology and financial crime controls. Governor Khalid Humaidan led the meeting as part of Bahrain’s presidency of the GCC’s 46th session. The governors reviewed recommendations from GCC committees and working groups on the payment systems implementation plan, banking sector supervision and oversight, and financial technologies. They also discussed cybersecurity information sharing within the banking sector and member states’ efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, following preparatory work on the same areas earlier in September.
