The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has alerted the public to press releases issued by banks on fraudulent websites, fake internet banking login screens, phishing emails and other scams that have been reported to the authority, with links to those bank notices available on the HKMA website. It reminded customers that banks do not send SMS messages or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing them to bank websites to carry out transactions, and do not ask for sensitive information such as login passwords or one-time passwords by phone, email or SMS. People who have disclosed personal information or carried out financial transactions in response to the scams should contact the relevant bank and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force.
