The Reserve Bank of New Zealand announced Byron Pepper’s appointment as deputy chair of its board for a four-year term from July 20, 2026, to June 30, 2030. The governor-general made the appointment on the recommendation of the minister of finance. Pepper has served on the board since July 2022 and will remain chair of the Financial Policy Committee. He previously chaired the Financial Stability Oversight Committee and oversaw the 2025 review of bank capital.
