The National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users, known as CONDUSEF, and the University of Guadalajara have launched the first in a series of university events leading to the 19th National Financial Education Week. The initiative provides students with practical guidance on saving, credit, investment, insurance, financial protection and long-term planning. The program responds to low formal savings among young adults and elevated banking complaints in Jalisco. Only 25% of people ages 18 to 29 reported saving through formal channels in the 2023 National Financial Health Survey. As of August 2026, Guadalajara recorded 2,478 banking complaints and Zapopan 2,296. Together with Tlaquepaque, Tlajomulco and Tonalá, the five municipalities accounted for 70.4% of multiple banking complaints in Jalisco, while the state represented 8.5% of complaints nationwide. Further events will take place at educational institutions across Mexico. National Financial Education Week will run from Oct. 15 to 18 at the Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City, while its virtual platform will remain available from Oct. 15, 2026, through March 31, 2027.
