Hong Kong’s Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau announced that the Chief Executive has approved the reappointment of Mr Carlson Tong Ka-shing as Chairman of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), with immediate effect, under the Securities and Futures Ordinance. Mr Tong’s chairmanship will conclude alongside the end of his term as a member of the HKEX Board of Directors at the end of the 2027 Annual General Meeting. The update follows Mr Tong’s re-election as HKEX Chairman by the directors at a board meeting on April 30, 2025, and reflects the statutory requirement that the chairman of a recognised exchange controller must have the Chief Executive’s written approval.
