The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) announced that the Federal Government has appointed Mr. Muzzafar Ahmed Mirza as a Commissioner of the SECP for a three-year term with immediate effect. Mr. Mirza was previously serving at the SECP as Chief Prosecutor and Executive Director and has been with the Commission since July 2012, including leading the Law Division and contributing to legal and enforcement functions. The release highlights his role in legislative reforms including the Companies Act, 2017; Securities Act, 2015; Futures Market Act, 2016; the Corporate Restructuring Companies Act, 2016; and the Corporate Rehabilitation Act, 2018, as well as work linked to ease of doing business initiatives, digital assets regulatory frameworks, and development of the SECP’s Regulatory Sandbox.
