The Bank of Mauritius has introduced a new Rs100 polymer banknote under section 35 of the Bank of Mauritius Act 2004. While designed to look similar to the existing paper Rs100 note, the polymer version includes a transparent window and a dodo image with a SwingTM feature. The new polymer Rs100 banknotes will circulate alongside the existing paper banknotes, with both remaining legal tender. The Bank is coordinating with financial institutions and cash handlers to support the transition, and stated that polymer banknotes in the Rs200 denomination will be issued in the course of 2025.
