The Jordan Securities Commission held an awareness workshop at its headquarters, in cooperation with a specialist team from the National Library, on the 2025 Indexing and Classification of Information and Documents System. The session focused on operationalising amendments to the Law on Guaranteeing the Right to Information, including requirements for each department to index and organise the information and documents it holds and to classify information that must be treated as confidential and protected under applicable legislation. The workshop reviewed the system’s provisions and the mechanism for forming a committee responsible for cataloguing and classifying information and documents, including its tasks, powers, meeting frequency, classification procedures, and document preservation rules. The amended law requires the classification and indexing framework to be applied within a period not exceeding six months from its publication in the Official Gazette, and assigns the relevant committee a capacity-building role for staff across ministries, institutions and government departments in implementing the law and the system issued under it.
