The Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN) hosted a regional luncheon for its Latin America and the Caribbean members during the III Latin American Congress on Sustainable and Inclusive Banking in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The meeting brought together representatives from 14 SBFN member institutions and other regional financial sector stakeholders, with 68 participants in total, and was livestreamed for members unable to attend in person. Discussions covered new initiatives led by SBFN members in the region, including the launch of IFC’s Silver Economy Program, the rollout of the 2025 Resilient Banking Survey, and the introduction of the Circular Economy Finance Guidelines. The guidelines set eligibility criteria and quantify the volume of eligible transactions, providing a tool for financial institutions and corporates to identify, evaluate, and track financial flows for circular economy projects. Participants also exchanged regulatory developments across the region, including work on green taxonomies, thematic bond issuance, open finance regulations, and strengthened environmental, social, and governance and gender-related governance standards.
