The Securities Commission Malaysia has charged former unit trust and Private Retirement Scheme consultant Henry Tan Soong Yan with two offenses involving alleged unlicensed securities dealing in Ipoh, Perak. He is accused of holding himself out as conducting a securities dealing business without a license and as representing Public Bank Berhad in securities dealing without a license. The alleged offenses occurred between January and September 2021 and in February 2022, under sections 59(1) and 58(1) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, respectively. Tan claimed trial to both charges and was granted bail of MYR 10,000 with one surety for each charge. He must surrender his passport and report to the commission’s investigating officer every two months while the cases are pending. The court scheduled the next case mention for Dec. 16, 2026.
