South Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance outlined measures to turn government-level Korea-Africa cooperation into private-sector projects, with a focus on artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. The proposed K-AI package would combine infrastructure supported by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund with AI solutions, data centers and power facilities, enabling Korean technology companies to participate in large development projects. The ministry plans to link the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation Trust Fund, Knowledge Sharing Program and Economic Development Cooperation Fund with African Development Bank financing to develop follow-on opportunities. Korean companies called for expanded financial support and public-private cooperation platforms, while investment briefings and meetings connected 22 Korean companies with African governments and institutions to discuss projects including infrastructure, transport and construction. South Korea and Mozambique also signed a memorandum of understanding on natural resources policy cooperation and knowledge sharing. The arrangement will incorporate companies’ operational and policy needs into advisory work and seek to translate its findings into follow-on projects and investment.
