The Malta Financial Services Authority, in coordination with the Central Bank of Malta, issued a circular changing how collective investment schemes submit the Central Bank of Malta Investment Funds Statistical Return. Under the revised process, funds must submit the return exclusively to the Central Bank of Malta through the INFOSTAT portal, with the Central Bank transmitting the data to the Malta Financial Services Authority via a secure direct data connection. The change removes the need for duplicate submissions via the Malta Financial Services Authority’s Licence Holder Portal and is intended to streamline collection and align with the “report once” and “single point of entry” principles. The new submission route applies from the December 2025 reference data (due by 21 January 2026); the final submission via the Licence Holder Portal is the reference period ending 30 November 2025 for funds with monthly reporting. From reference periods ending 31 December 2025 onwards, submissions and revisions (including for periods prior to 30 November 2025) must be made through INFOSTAT, and the Licence Holder Portal project will be disabled for this return.
