The State Bank of Vietnam published an update on a Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh with the newly established Policy Advisory Council, attended by State Bank of Vietnam Governor Nguyen Thi Hong and other senior officials. The Council was established to research and provide advice and recommendations to the Prime Minister on developing, designing and steering development policies, with former Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh serving as the Council’s standing member. Discussions covered inputs to a private sector development proposal to be submitted to the Politburo, and a draft supplementary assessment report on implementation of the 2024 socio-economic development plan and progress in the first months of 2025 for submission to the National Assembly at its upcoming session. Members also assessed recent socio-economic conditions, discussed forward-looking scenarios and policy priorities, and provided comments on the draft rules governing the Council’s operations. Relevant agencies were tasked with incorporating feedback to finalise the drafts for submission to the competent authorities.
