The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Amanda Fischer is departing as Chief of Staff, a role she has held since 1 January 2023 after joining the agency in June 2021 as Senior Counselor to Chair Gary Gensler. Fischer served as a lead adviser to the Chair across the SEC’s mission, including rulemaking and policy, enforcement, strategy, personnel and management, operations, communications, and legislative affairs. The release highlights her involvement in reforms to equity and Treasury markets, coordination with the Financial Stability Oversight Council, and the agency’s response to major market events, as well as interagency engagements with the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets and White House task forces.
