The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) held its “Powering Growth with Resilience” broker forum, bringing together about 700 senior representatives of the securities sector for dialogue on supervisory observations and regulatory updates as part of its industry engagement programme. Discussions covered recent developments in the initial public offering market and initiatives to advance innovation in exchange-traded products and tokenised products. The SFC also introduced enhanced account-opening approaches aimed at improving brokers’ operational efficiency and resilience, and highlighted the need for ongoing improvements in cybersecurity defences and internal control measures to mitigate the risk of unauthorised trading.
