The Bermuda Ministry of Finance published an update on the inaugural Community Day of the Digital Finance Forum, which drew more than 250 attendees for a full-day programme focused on practical engagement with digital finance. During the opening session, Premier David Burt said the Government of Bermuda is updating its infrastructure to accept digital dollars as payment for government dues and taxes. To broaden access, the government distributed more than 150 complimentary tickets, and each attendee received USDC 100 to spend with local vendors, giving participants first-hand experience of digital payments. Purchases in the Vendor Village were processed through the Coinbase Commerce platform, and the update also referenced annual fintech training programmes run by the Government’s Economic Development Department in partnership with the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation. The Digital Finance Forum continues through 9 May with panels, workshops, and networking sessions.
