The Argentina Securities Commission, the Financial Intelligence Unit and the Argentine Fintech Chamber convened more than 300 industry participants to examine financial crime prevention, fraud, artificial intelligence and potential regulatory improvements in the fintech sector. The forum covered operational and compliance challenges for virtual asset, payment, collection and nonbank credit service providers, as well as priorities for the coming months. Financial Intelligence Unit officials outlined current supervisory criteria, risk-based oversight, financial intelligence techniques and regulatory expectations. The commission reviewed the development of the Virtual Asset Service Provider Registry and providers’ inclusion in the anti-money laundering, counterterrorist financing and counterproliferation financing regime, following its earlier extension of related obligations to the sector. Industry representatives discussed digital onboarding, digital identity and the use of artificial intelligence in regulatory compliance.
