People's Bank of China Governor Pan Gongsheng attended the Bank for International Settlements governors’ meeting and annual general meeting in Basel on 28–29 June, where central bank governors discussed the international economic and financial outlook, the impact of new payment instruments on the traditional financial system and monetary sovereignty, and challenges arising from trade policy uncertainty, and he held bilateral meetings with BIS General Manager Agustín Carstens, the central bank governors of South Korea, Canada, Indonesia, Denmark and Georgia, and Financial Stability Institute Chair Fernando Restoy.
